The Concrete Industry Management (CIM) Program is a cutting-edge bachelor degree program, which produced its first three graduates in the year 2000. In the following 15 years CIM has become the “talk” of our industry. Today the CIM graduates are contributing on all levels in the diverse economy we call the concrete industry. Expect an overview of what is happening in the concrete industry and how Texas State University is preparing tomorrow’s leaders.
About our Speaker
Dr. John J. Schemmel, Ph.D., P.E., FACI is the Director for the Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program and Associate Chair of the Department of Engineering Technology at Texas State University. John received his BSCE from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI in 1982; his MS from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA in 1984; and his Ph.D. from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC in 1989. He has served on the faculty at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR; South Dakota State University, Brookings, SD; and Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, IN. Dr. Schemmel serves on, and is the Chair of, several ACI and ASTM committees. John has authored many papers and has made numerous presentations related to concrete. He and his wife Susan were founders and owners of eTEC LLC (Engineering Training and Education Consultants) until the company was purchased by ASTM in 2012.

Welcome to the website of the Central Texas Chapter of the American Concrete Institute. We are located in Austin, Texas. The chapter membership is comprised of a diverse group of individuals supporting the central Texas concrete industry including concrete producers, engineers, technicians, concrete material suppliers, university professors, students, and contractors.

Chapter meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month, except during July and August. Meetings are held at 11:30 a.m.
Cost for the lunch is $15.00 - If you are a current dues paying member lunch is FREE for 2014 meetings. Join the chapter as an indivudual member at the meeting for $20.00 and eat lunch at the meetings FREE. Obtain a membership form by following the membership link above.
