Case Studies of Concrete Structure Forensic Investigations
Presented by: Carlos Garza, M.S., P.E. Carrasquillo Associates
Mr. Garza has performed sturctural investigations at Carrasquillo Associates involving construction and design defects, materials failures, and structural collapses. The investigations have included detailed condition assessments, structural modeling and analysis, concrete material analysis, and design and implementation of repairs. In addition, Mr. Garza has performed numerous evaluations of structures distressed due to durability and/or material issues including structures affected by alkali-aggregate reaction, corrosion, sulfate attack, and delayed ettringite formation. Mr. Garza is currently licensed in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico and has acquired training for the nondestructive evaluation of existing strutures.
Mr. Garza recieved his M.S. in Structural Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin in 2006, and recieved his B.S. in Civil Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin in 2003. His professional affiliations include the American Concrete Institute, the Structural Engineers Association of Texas, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Mr. Garza also serves on ACI Committee 207 - Mass and Thermally Controlled Concrete; ACI Committee 302 - Construction of Concrete Floors; and ACI Committee 544 - Fiber-Reinforced Concrete.

The chapter membership is comprised of a diverse group of individuals supporting the central Texas concrete industry including concrete producers, engineers, technicians, concrete material suppliers, university professors, students, and contractors.

Chapter meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month, except during July and August. Meetings are held at 11:30 a.m.
Cost for the lunch is $15.00 - If you are a current dues paying member lunch is FREE for 2014 meetings. Join the chapter as an indivudual member at the meeting for $20.00 and eat lunch at the meetings FREE. Obtain a membership form by following the membership link above.
